Despite giving it their damned best, Gizmodo staff were unable to dislike the Xperia Play.
Painful to their pride... Pain mixed with joy. I mean, Sony Ericsson Xperia phones have routinely been dished wholesale by Gizmodo since the first leaks about what became the X10. These guys really must have some kind of immune system problem with blue, mistlike flowing backgrounds. Notwithstanding some preconcieved notion that "Timescape" is a whole UI you are forced to endure, when it's really just another app and another widget which you are free to choose to use or ignore according to personal taste. That's the whole idea of Android, right? So we can stop hearing more about this nonsense, please.
Now , gaming can really open door it seems. And RBN agrees, after some brief hands-on, that the experience of [car racing game] Asphalt is "just as good as playing a game on the PSP, or even on the PS3—I was amazed that a phone game could feel so good." See http://gizmodo.com/#!5761147/xperia-play-hands-on-the-playstation-phone-is-a-button-mashers-dream for more.
And this is just the start; RBN is eagerly awaiting Assassin's Creed and other promised titles. This could really be something... let the Force be with us.
